Title: Thermochemical evolution of magmatic systems: insights from in situ observation and numerical modelling of apatite growth, dissolution and zonation patterns

1 postgraduate student or 1 postdoc/RA to work on in-situ microanalysis and kinetics/numerical modelling.

Start date: ASAP; student expected to start in September 2026.

Title: Triggering mechanisms of large magnitude explosive volcanic eruptions in the Sumatra subduction zone​​​​​​​​

2 postgraduate students or 1 postdoc to work on petrology, in-situ microanalysis, and thermodynamic/magma dynamics modelling.​

Postgraduate scholarships

I encourage students to contact me and discuss their research proposals before applying. The standard RPg scholarship at HKU is ~$19,000 HKD per month (HKU-PS and HKPFS scholarships provide higher salary and travel grants).​​
